Without a PS5 launch to look forward to, Sony State of Play is considerably more boring. Throughout last year we waited with bated breath for a morsel, a crumb of news on the PS5 at each and every State of Play. On many occasions, we were left disappointed, though we should have known better as Sony kept its biggest announcements for specific events like Future of Gaming and The Road to PS5 . Regardless, like moths to a flame, we kept coming back for more. But the disappointment was part of the whirlwind that surrounded the upcoming PS5 launch. We speculated and we hoped, knowing that at some point Sony would have to share more details on its upcoming console - so we tuned in thinking “it might happen this time”. Fast forward to 2021 and the PS5 is out in the wild. As I awaited February 2021’s Sony State of Play, the memories of dismay from the previous State of Plays faded away and I let my mind wander to the endless possibilities of what Sony could showcase at the … [Read more...] about Sony’s State of Play outlined a boring few months for the PS5

Milla Jovovich wanted Monster Hunter viewers to feel ‘like they were playing the game for the first time’
In Monster Hunter , Milla Jovovich plays an outsider. Her character, a US Army ranger named Artemis, is mysteriously transported from our world to a fantastical realm filled with giant and dangerous monsters. American soldiers aren’t something you’ll find in any of Capcom’s Monster Hunter games. But Jovovich believes Artemis helped provide an important perspective — almost serving as a stand-in for a player jumping into their first experience with a Monster Hunter game. “When my character gets transported into the Monster Hunter world I was able to see it with the same eyes as when I first saw the game,” she tells The Verge . “I was just like ‘Whoa, it’s so beautiful.’ We really wanted people to feel like that when they watch the movie, like they were playing the game for the first time.” Jovovich says she was introduced to the franchise through her husband, Monster Hunter director Paul W.S. Anderson, who “had been really obsessed with this property for over 10 years.” … [Read more...] about Milla Jovovich wanted Monster Hunter viewers to feel ‘like they were playing the game for the first time’
Many Parents Not Taking Kids Outside to Play
Almost half of preschool children aren't taken outside to play by their parents on a daily basis, a new study finds. In fact, 49 percent of children don't go outside with mom or dad for a walk or playtime each day, according to the research. The study was based on a nationally representative sample of 8,950 preschool children. "For children who do not have a regular child-care arrangement besides their parents (and therefore, likely do not have other structured venues or care providers to take them outside on a regular basis), 42 percent did not go outside daily," the authors wrote today (April 2) in the journal Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine. This lack of fresh air was not associated with many of the usual suspects that might influence a child's activities. For instance, the frequency of outdoor play was not associated with how long a child spent watching television, the family's income or parental perceptions of the neighborhood's safety. What did … [Read more...] about Many Parents Not Taking Kids Outside to Play
Ashton Kutcher to Play Steve Jobs in Biopic [REPORT]
Ashton Kutcher will play Steve Jobs in the indie biographical movie about Apple's charismatic CEO, Variety reports. Matt Whiteley will write the script, and Joshua Michael Stern of Swing Vote fame will direct the movie, titled simply: Jobs . The production is slated to start in May, when Ashton Kutcher is on leave from his main project, hit TV series Two and a Half Men , Variety claims . Though the story broke on April 1, Variety's Jeff Sneider said repeatedly on Twitter that the story is not an April Fools joke. The movie should not be confused with another Steve Jobs biopic , based on Walter Isaacson's biographical book and currently under development by Sony Pictures. Looking at pictures of young Steve Jobs and Ashton Kutcher (especially in their respective bearded phases of life), we can definitely see a resemblance. Looking the part and acting it are two different things, though. What do you think? Does Kutcher have the acting chops to portray one of … [Read more...] about Ashton Kutcher to Play Steve Jobs in Biopic [REPORT]

Have you ever wanted to grab your friend's phone and seize control of their disastrous dating life? Now you can. Enter Wingman , a new app launching today that lets you set up friends with only people you deem appropriate. Rubs hands together in devilish anticipation. It’s not a dating app, exactly. It's more of matchmaking app — a little bit like handing your friend your Tinder or Bumble account and saying, "Here, you deal with this." Your fate rests almost entirely in the the hands of your wingman or wingwoman. That's either terrifying or a total relief, depending on how you feel about your friends! Wingman also stands out because it wasn’t created by the stereotypical figure behind many dating apps, the whiz kid who thinks the right algorithms can solve any problem. Instead it's the brainchild of Tina Wilson, a charismatic, fully … [Read more...] about Wingman is the dating app that lets you play matchmaker for your friends
