FAA to Allow Most Gadget Use During Takeoff and Landing

The days of turning off your iPod or putting away your Kindle during takeoff and landing will soon be over. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Thursday that it will allow airlines to ease restrictions on portable electronic devices during all phases of flight. A cross-industry panel including airlines representatives, aviation manufacturers, passengers, pilots, flight attendants and officials from the mobile technology industry determined that most commercial airplanes "can tolerate" radio interference from light-weight electronic devices such as tablets, smartphones and e-readers.
