Duo is Google’s attempt at the most human video chat service ever
A face for video Video chat needs to escape its current social limitations, and Duo is the first attempt. Russell Holly 25 May 2016 33 [ ]/google-io-2016) The act of communicating in real time through video hasn't really changed in nearly 20 years. Two devices with the same software initiate a connection, you wait for the video to load, and if you're lucky the connection is good enough for a conversation to happen at a close to real world cadence. For years we've been sold on the idea that smartphones with great front-facing cameras would enable the ability to simply pick up your phone and call someone through video, but rarely does that experience go smoothly even between two people who are familiar with how the tech works. To that end, the company has rolled out a new update that adds auto-delete, expiring invite links, new animated emojis, home screen widgets, and an improved chat import and reporting system. Alligators Stalk, Crush & Swallow Prey on Candid Camera
Chomp, chomp. An inconspicuous — albeit with a camera on its back — alligator slithers through a lake stalking and capturing nearby prey, then surfaces to crush and swallow it. This gator is one of a group of camera-toting American alligators that are revealing some surprising insights about their foraging behaviors in two coastal regions in Florida, scientists report in a new study. The resulting video footage revealed that the cryptic predators hunt most often at night, even though the probability of a successful catch is highest during the morning hours. [See Video of the Alligators Stalking Prey ] "We discovered that alligators forage at all times of the day, but increasingly during the night and evening hours, however they were most successful in the morning and while attacking prey below the surface," said the researchers, James Nifong from the University of Florida and colleagues, in a statement. In the past, scientists have relied on stomach contents of … [Read more...] about Alligators Stalk, Crush & Swallow Prey on Candid Camera
