2021’s World Car of the Year goes to the electric Volkswagen ID.4

· April 21, 2021 ·

Further Reading As important as the Beetle? Two days with Volkswagen’s electric ID.4 The real measure of success for Volkswagen's embrace of electric vehicles (EV) post-dieselgate will be how many the company can sell each year. But on Tuesday, VW's job might have gotten a little easier. That's because the new ID.4 crossover just won this year's World Car of the Year award, beating two other finalists, the adorable Honda E and the new Toyota Yaris. Fear not, E-fans: the diminutive electric hatchback won the World Urban Car category. Previous years' winners have included the Kia Telluride and the Jaguar I-Pace . I expected the Honda E to win World Car Design of the Year; as one of the 93 jurors around the world, I gave it high marks because just look at it . But more of my fellow jurors picked the chunky Land Rover Defender for that honor, and the Land Rover also beat the Mazda MX-30 in the process. The World Luxury Car award went to the new Mercedes-Benz … [Read more...] about 2021’s World Car of the Year goes to the electric Volkswagen ID.4

Polaroid Go is the world’s smallest analogue instant camera

· April 20, 2021 ·

Polaroid has taken on Instax Mini cameras by launching what it claims is the world's smallest analogue instant camera, the Polaroid Go. The new compact model, which is smaller than the new Fujifilm Instax Mini 40 , measures just 105mm x 84mm x 61mm, making it the diddiest analogue camera in the company's storied history. Designed as a wearable companion for those looking to print physical photos on-the-go, the Polaroid Go is also being launched with a new miniature film format that's remarkably similar in size to Instax Mini film. These are the best instant cameras of 2021 Or check out our in-depth Polaroid Now review Discover the best film cameras in the world While Instax Mini prints measure 86mm x 54mm, the new Polaroid Go film is effectively a square equivalent of its rival, at 66.6mm x 53.9mm (with an image size of 47mm x 46mm). In other words, expect credit card-sized prints. While there are smaller instant cameras than the Polaroid Go, such as the … [Read more...] about Polaroid Go is the world’s smallest analogue instant camera

Overclocker pushes Radeon RX 6900 XT to world record 3.22 GHz

· April 21, 2021 ·

What just happened? AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards have been out for several months now, and while they've been very hard to get a hold of, some of the lucky few have looked into testing their overclocking potential. One popular overclocker managed to get the Radeon RX 6900 XT to run at a record 3,225 MHz, more than Nvidia's flagship Ampere card. Whether you're an enthusiast that can name a couple of the most memorable overclocking-friendly CPUs or one competing for a high spot on the 3DMark Time Spy Extreme Hall of Fame, there are some professionals who just like to push modern silicon to its absolute limits to see how far it will go. Sometimes it even borders on the practical, such as proving that Doom Eternal can run at a demonic 1,000 frames per second. Last year, we saw an overclocker pushing a rusty Intel Celeron D 347 CPU to 8.36 GHz, while another drove a relatively modern Intel Core i9-10900K to 7.7 GHz. Earlier this month, a Chinese overclocker also … [Read more...] about Overclocker pushes Radeon RX 6900 XT to world record 3.22 GHz

UK going to polls in June to decide future with European Union

· February 20, 2016 ·

UPDATED: 1:30 p.m. GMT LONDON — The UK is holding a referendum on June 23 to decide whether or not to stay in the European Union. The date for the "Brexit" referendum was announced Saturday afternoon by David Cameron after he returned from 31-hour talks in Brussels seeking a deal that renegotiates Britain's status within the 28-nation bloc. The deal will be analysed and talked about exhaustively. Cameron's own Conservatives aren't united on the issue and campaigns will watch closely which side the ministers take. The Prime Minister convened the Cabinet at 10 a.m. Saturday to try and sell them on the deal. After the meeting, ministers were free to support the side of their choosing. Cameron said in a statement overnight that the deal keeps the best parts … [Read more...] about UK going to polls in June to decide future with European Union

UK wins hard-fought deal for less-intrusive EU

· February 20, 2016 ·

BRUSSELS — British Prime Minister David Cameron has won a hard-fought deal for a less intrusive European Union after two days of tense talks with EU leaders, a commitment he said he needed to persuade UK voters the country should stay in the bloc. The agreement is seen as a key stepping stone to the in-out referendum in Britain on continued EU membership that could come as soon as this summer.
