The Federal Bureau of Investigation reports that the total dollar loss from all cases referred to its Internet Crime Complaint center was $559.7 million in 2009. That's more than double the previous year: $264.6 million. And the number of complaints grew substantially as well: 336,655—a 22.3 percent jump from 2008's 275,284. "The figures contained in this report indicate that criminals are continuing to take full advantage of the anonymity afforded them by the Internet," the FBI's Donald Brackman of the National White Collar Crime Center commented on the latest statistics. Elon Musk sends a tweet through SpaceX’s Starlink broadband satellite
As SpaceX pushes to take over the night sky with 30,000 Starlink satellites , CEO Elon Musk tested the orbiting routers' internet connectivity early Tuesday with a message to his nearly 29 million Twitter followers. "Sending this tweet through space via Starlink satellite," he wrote, before following up to express his surprise. "Whoa, it worked!!" Musk's internet aspirations took flight back in May, when SpaceX launched its initial batch of 60 Starlink satellites to start testing its broadband service. The company aims to bring satellite broadband to customers around the globe, and Tuesday's tweet suggests that it's on track.
