Snapchat has announced two new lenses in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO). The new lenses use augmented reality (AR) and smartphone cameras to inform users about the importance of social distancing as well as offer tips on staying healthy. Out of two lenses, one is named as ‘My Social Distant’ that motivates users to stay at home and practice social distancing by creating an AR circle on the ground and shows users the recommended space or distance needed as per WHO guidelines. The other lens is more of a reminder feature that gives users animated reminders to wash hands, staying at home, and not to touch their face. Also, both the lenses redirect to WHO’s website for more information on Covid-19.
