Acer’s Chromebook Spin 513 with a Snapdragon 7c processor starts at $480

· April 15, 2021 ·

We already knew Acer was working on the first two Chrome OS devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7c chips. And today, the company has released two product listings for its Chromebook Spin 513, but you can’t buy this laptop just yet. As spotted by AboutChromebooks , the Chromebook Spin 513 with the Snapdragon 7c processor has two configuration listings that have appeared on Acer’s website, with a starting price of $479.99. Acer announced in October that the Chromebook Spin would start at $399.99. Additionally, both laptops also do not show 4G LTE for connectivity, which is something that was noted to be a configuration option. The key difference between the two is the RAM configuration, which is only a $20 price difference. Although the product listing for both Chromebooks include a “Buy Now” button, it is still not available for purchase yet. The Snapdragon 7c is an entry-level mobile processor that’s built on an 8nm process. Although it is one of the weaker laptop CPUs, … [Read more...] about Acer’s Chromebook Spin 513 with a Snapdragon 7c processor starts at $480

Tumblr Users Give Disney’s Latest White Princess a Makeover

· July 1, 2013 ·

It doesn’t take a film expert to recognize the conservatism of Disney cartoons. It took until 2009 for the first African-American Disney protagonist to appear onscreen, and before Brave ’s Merida could be inducted into the Disney Princess Hall of Fame, she had to get a girly makeover . Disney’s latest princess won’t have to change her appearance to hang out with the other girl, though that’s mainly because she looks almost indistinguishable from the company's second most recent princess, Rapunzel — who, come to think of it, bears a striking resemblance to Sleeping Beauty. Traditionally, Disney princesses were feminine, passive and spent a lot of time doing housework and harmonizing with cartoon animals. Since the appearance of Mulan and Merida, things have gotten a little better. But when you look at the Disney princess lineup, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are still front and center: two perky, Caucasian blondes whose movies came out in the 1950s. For this reason, many … [Read more...] about Tumblr Users Give Disney’s Latest White Princess a Makeover

Now You Can Color the Jawbone Jambox as Loud as It Plays

· August 21, 2012 ·

Jawbone made a name for itself selling Bluetooth earpieces that looked cool and actually worked, then took that knowledge to wireless speakers in the form of the Jambox. That could be why the Jambox is selling well, and is now the best-selling wireless speaker in the U.S., according to the company. It could also be clever marketing, like the just-launched Jambox remix site . Up till now the speaker was available in four different colors, each with slightly different styling. The new site lets customers mix and match different colors of the speaker grille with the plastic end caps. While many products offer custom colors, not many match the sheer variety the Jambox now offers. With 13 different grill colors and 9 flavors of end caps, buyers can choose among 117 potential combinations. SEE ALSO: Big Jambox Pumps Out Awesome, Ear-Splitting Audio [REVIEW] The custom coloring doesn't add anything to the price of the Jambox (it's still $199.99), and there are buttons for … [Read more...] about Now You Can Color the Jawbone Jambox as Loud as It Plays

Redmi TV X55 review: Affordable price, impressive display

· April 17, 2021 ·

Redmi was declared an independent brand in 2019. This sub-brand of China-based Xiaomi is all about value-for-money products, while the Mi brand offers premium devices with aggressive pricing. Other than smartphones, Redmi has already ventured into product categories like wireless earbuds, power banks and smart bands. The company has now entered the smart TV market in India with the launch of its first smart TV. Called the Redmi TV X series, the line-up consists of three screen sizes: 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch. We reviewed the 55-inch model of Redmi TV X which comes with a price tag of Rs 38,999. Here’s our review Redmi TV X 55: Design Redmi TV X55 is a rather standard looking TV set. It has a comparatively thin profile on the side and features a plastic body. What catches one’s eye as soon as one takes the TV out of the packaging box is the Redmi branding on the rear side. It is so prominent that you can not miss it. The 55-inch screen model that we received is a … [Read more...] about Redmi TV X55 review: Affordable price, impressive display

Facebook hit a key climate goal

· April 15, 2021 ·

Facebook announced today that it exceeded one of its biggest environmental goals: it managed to slash its greenhouse gas emissions by 94 percent in 2020. It had previously pledged to cut planet-heating emissions by 75 percent. The company said that it had also achieved its goal of “net zero emissions” — not putting any more emissions into the atmosphere than it can take out. Facebook also announced that it had achieved another goal: it now purchases enough renewable energy to cover 100 percent of its global operations, which includes its offices and data centers. But that doesn’t mean that all of its operations are actually powered by renewables like solar and wind energy — at least not yet. Renewable energy is on the rise, but most electricity grids still rely on fossil fuels. When companies can’t purchase enough renewable energy from utilities because there isn’t enough supply, they buy renewable energy certificates that signal that the company invested in renewable energy … [Read more...] about Facebook hit a key climate goal
