Hi, Does someone have practical experience with i7-8700 and i5-8600 ? (or similar builds previous versions, such as i5-7600 vs i7-7700) These two CPUs are identical except that i-7 has 6x2 cores(hyperthreading) and larger Cache. My other frustration is that the price difference is $50-60 at this point, and I can drive 5min to pick up i7, whereas i5 is on backorder for 2 … [Read more...] about i7-8700 versus i5-8600?
I7 4790 vs i5 4690k
ericflaviu.floreaDec 6, 2018, 3:43 PM Hello, I was wondering if it's still worth to upgrade from i3 4130 to an i7 4790. I use my PC for mostly gaming such as Rainbow Six Siege, GTA V, Battlefield 1 or esports games in general. At this moment I have the i3 i mentioned above paired with 8gb of DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. I just want to have a smooth fps. I have almost the same rig as yours except my cpu is the K version and the gpu Asus gtx 1080 strix. I can tell you pretty much every game you have mentioned will run at higher than 60fps with the gtx 1080 at 1440p Rise of the tomb raider, the game that forced me to upgrade from the gtx 970, could even run at 4K but you would need to turn AA off The 1070 shouldn'd be that much … [Read more...] about i7 4790 (non k) bottleneck for gtx 1080/rtx 2070
4th gen CPU is better at gaming due to better quad-core performance while 3rd gen CPU is better at production work (e.g video rendering) since it has hyperthreading, comparison: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-3770-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4690/1979vs2311For your use, which is mainly gaming, 4th gen CPU is better. Also, if you want to ever upgrade your CPU, without … [Read more...] about Used i7 3770 or i5 4690
Are you sure it's the CPU which is bottlenecking you? Most games don't use much CPU, except massive multiplayer games (which admittedly BF1 is). A 1070 pushing 1440p @ 144 Hz in BF1 seems implausible. The reviews I'm finding say you should expect closer to 90 FPS with a 1070 @ 1440p. … [Read more...] about Upgrade an i5 4690k to an i7 4790k in 2018?
