Tom and Jerry accidentally became the Snyder Cut for a hot minute

· March 8, 2021 ·

The Snyder Cut is set to release on March 18th , but some viewers already got a truly inexplicable sneak peek today — quite a few people trying to watch the Tom and Jerry movie on HBO Max were instead shown the upcoming R-rated version of Justice League ( via The Hollywood Reporter ). I guess you could say Warner Bros. really let the cat out of the bag. HBO confirmed that, yes, this did in fact happen: “Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max and the error was addressed within minutes,” a spokesperson tells The Verge. At this moment, It’s unclear if this error was worldwide, or if the Snyder Cut only showed up in certain regions. A few Verge staff tried the trick for ourselves, but were instead greeted by the rapping NYC pigeons that open the Tom and Jerry movie. Even if we made it through, The Hollywood Reporter says viewers were only to see about an hour of the four-hour long Snyder Cut. While probably not enough of the movie to … [Read more...] about Tom and Jerry accidentally became the Snyder Cut for a hot minute

Starting Chemo Early Doesn’t Always Help

· May 30, 2013 ·

A new finding challenges what has been considered common wisdom among doctors: The earlier you treat cancer, the better. Researchers found no increase in the survival rate of patients whose relapsed ovarian cancer was found by screening tests before symptoms developed, and whose chemotherapy was started early, over that of patients whose cancer was found later when symptoms developed. "The absolute benefit of that close surveillance has not been tested before, which is why this is a landmark paper," said Dr. Bradley Monk, a gynecologic oncologist at Creighton University School of Medicine in Arizona, who was not affiliated with the study. Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women in the United States. Up to 90 percent of women with ovarian cancer will relapse, according to Johns Hopkins University. Ovarian cancer relapse can be found early by monitoring blood levels of a protein called CA125, produced by ovarian cancer cells. CA125 levels may … [Read more...] about Starting Chemo Early Doesn’t Always Help

Cellphone inventor says 5G should be focused on providing more access

· March 8, 2021 ·

When Apple or Samsung unveils a new smartphone, consumers can preorder the device within days and expect to get it in their hands within weeks. When Motorola introduced the first-ever cellphone, the DynaTAC, in 1973, it took another decade before consumers could actually use one. Talk about delayed gratification. Ironically, it took the team at Motorola just three months to conceive and build the first DynaTAC, a minor miracle considering it takes 12 to 18 months today to do the same thing with a flagship smartphone. The company only made two prototypes, the culmination of thousands of parts welded together in a boot-shaped phone with a massive antenna. "It's far more complicated than a modern phone, believe it or not," Martin Cooper, who led the team at Motorola and is credited as the father of the cellphone, said in an interview for the Daily Charge podcast last week. Cooper shared stories about the whirlwind race to develop that first phone, which was less a … [Read more...] about Cellphone inventor says 5G should be focused on providing more access
