Game designer Josef Fares makes a lot of games about relationships. First there was Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons that tackled themes of loss of a parental figure and the unbreakable emotional bond between family members. Then there was A Way Out, which explored the relationship of friends-turned-rivals on different sides of the law. It Takes Two, Fares’ latest game from Swedish developer Hazelight Studios, explores the relationship between husband and wife – specifically a husband and wife going through a prickly, unpleasant divorce who have been turned into dolls by their daughter until they can reconcile their differences. The premise is that the two lead characters, Cody and May, have drifted apart due to their focus on work, hobbies, raising their child and, well, everything that isn’t each other. To put the pieces back together they’ll need to confront their marital problems head-on and, with a little help from a talking Book of Love, find what made their relationship so … [Read more...] about Josef Fares’ It Takes Two handles divorce in the sweetest way possible

Google Cardboard Was the Ultimate WTF Moment of Google I/O
After a marathon two-and-a-half hour Google I/O keynote, the tech giant had one final surprise for attendees: a piece of cardboard. Developers at I/O walked away with a strange construction kit for a project named, imaginatively, Cardboard . Planned service road near Mount St. Helens threatens prized research area
By Robert F. Service Apr. 21, 2021 , 1:00 PM When Mount St. Helens in Washington state erupted on 18 May 1980, the initial explosion blew sideways, creating a nearly 600-square-kilometer blast zone—and what has become a prized ecological research area. Dozens of groups have tracked life’s reemergence there, one lupine and ladybug at a time. Now, many of those research projects may be endangered. Last month, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), which manages the land, issued a decision to build a road stretching through the heart of the research area to the banks of Spirit Lake, 5 kilometers northeast of the crater. The agency says the road will service a tunnel that drains the lake to prevent a catastrophic flood, a threat to tens of thousands of people in the valley below. The USFS decision has set off protests from scientists, including a lawsuit aimed at preventing the road’s construction and charges that the agency failed to consult with researchers. “We absolutely recognize … [Read more...] about Planned service road near Mount St. Helens threatens prized research area
DJI Air 2S is an almost perfect blend of its two best drones

(Looking for our final verdict DJI's new drone? Read our in-depth DJI Air 2S review ). The Air 2S takes the compact, foldable form of the DJI Mavic Air 2 and combines it with a camera that has a large 1-inch sensor, which is the same size as the chip in the DJI Mavic 2 Pro . As our DJI Air 2S review concludes, this impressive DNA means it's probably the best drone ever made for hobbyist fliers – or anyone looking for a travel-friendly drone that can shoot high-quality aerial photos and videos. The Air 2S can shoot 20MP still images or 5.4K video from that one-inch sensor, and also packs in all of DJI's automated flight modes – including a new one called MasterShots. Why the DJI Air 2S has convinced me to sell my DJI Mavic 2 Pro
I’ve been the happy owner of a DJI Mavic 2 Pro for a couple of years, and during this time I’ve been hugely impressed with its flying performance and camera. I’ve also flown and reviewed almost every consumer DJI drone released in the last few years, but it’s only now that I’m starting to think about upgrading my drone – and that's all thanks to the arrival of the DJI Air 2S . As a reviewer who frequently handles some of the best new camera gear money can buy, it takes something truly special to catch my eye – otherwise I’d be pretty skint. Most recently it’s been the DJI Air 2S that has caught my attention; a drone weighing 595g and featuring a 20MP 1-inch sensor is a very attractive proposition to an outdoor photographer who often carries both stills cameras and a drone while out shooting. Read our in-depth DJI Air 2S review Getting the weight of my kit down is always a challenge, so the Air 2S raises a tantalizing question: should I sell my DJI Mavic 2 Pro (vital … [Read more...] about Why the DJI Air 2S has convinced me to sell my DJI Mavic 2 Pro
