It’s easy to pick up habits from romantic partners. People who are attracted to each other often engage in mirroring, or subconsciously copying each others gestures and patterns of speech. It’s also common and understandable for people in relationships to adopt each other’s attitudes, habits, and hobbies. Personally, it’s how I learned to sail, rock climb and develop an appreciation for the finer points of noise music and puppetry. Since the musician Grimes started dating tech mogul Elon Musk, many critics have noted — or complained — that she seems to be mirroring the billionaire CEO behind SpaceX and Tesla in both form and content. In their first appearance as a couple at the Met Gala earlier this month, Grimes wore a choker co-designed by Musk that looked a lot like a Tesla logo, inspiring numerous memes. She also reportedly removed (and later readded) the word “anti-imperialist” from her Twitter bio. Yesterday, the question of his … [Read more...] about Grimes is changing her name to the symbol for the speed of light, encouraged by Elon Musk

Maye Musk is one of the most in-demand models in the world, yet she never expected to be modeling at this point in her life, at age 70, she tells Alina Cho in an interview for CBS' "Sunday Morning." Among other high-profile appearances, Musk, the mother of Tesla and Space X founder and billionaire Elon Musk, was recently featured in Harper's Bazaar and will be featured in an upcoming edition of AARP magazine. She's a regular on the runway for top designers and is the most senior model ever for CoverGirl. Though she started modeling at 15, Musk is having one of those media moments she never dreamed of. "So no, you don't think that at all," Musk tells Cho. "And every year I thought, 'Well, is it going to slow down?' And now, at 70, I'm doing the best work I've ever done." Her life may look glamorous now, she says, but it hasn't always been that way. Musk was married at 22, had three children, and was divorced nine years later. She struggled to pay the rent and provide for the kids. "I … [Read more...] about Preview: Maye Musk on being an in-demand model at age 70

ELON Musk has stunned space enthusiasts worldwide by announcing plans to send a test space vehicle to Mars in the first half of 2019. He made the surprise timeline claims while addressing an audience at the South by South West (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, yesterday. How long does it take to travel to Mars? There's an immense distance between Earth and Mars, which means any trip to the red planet will take a very long time. It's also made more complicated by the fact that the distance is constantly changing as the two planets rotate around the sun. The closest that the Earth and Mars would ever be is a distance of 33.9million miles – that's 9,800 times the distance between London and New York. That's really rare though: the more useful distance is the average, which is 140million miles. Scientists on Earth have already launched a whole bunch of spacecraft to (or near) Mars, so we have a rough idea of how long it takes with current technology. Historically, the trip has … [Read more...] about How long will it take to get to Mars, how many light years away is it and what was Elon Musk’s latest SpaceX launch ?
ELON MUSK has tweeted that he's building a cyborg dragon, whatever that means. The Tesla and SpaceX chief offered no explanation about the barmy invention. Let's pause for a second and break that down literally: a cyborg is a being with organic and mechanical body parts, and a dragon is a mythical animal usually portrayed as a scaly, fire-breathing serpent. Definitions aside, we're still no closer to getting to the bottom of this blunt, but also strangely cryptic, tweet. Musk has played with fire before, building a Boring flamethrower (which takes its name from the droll title of his tunnel-drilling firm) and flogging it for £355. All 20,000 units of the insane (and wholly irresponsible) tool were snapped in just four days. Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018 He's also taken to Twitter to unveil Boring hats and Tesla tequila – so is this cyborg dragon just the latest in a line of Musk merch? And will it be available to the … [Read more...] about Elon Musk says he’s building a ‘cyborg dragon’ – should we be worried?

Thomas Colson, provided by Published 11:50 pm, Monday, April 9, 2018 Getty Images / Thomas Peter-Pool Trump's economic war with China could wreck the prospect of a UK-US trade deal after Brexit. That's according to Gary Hufbauer, senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Politics. "We are entering into an economic cold war with China. We're just seeing the beginnings," he said. Brexiteers promised the UK will sign speedy, generous trade deals with allies like the US after Brexit, but early indications suggest the UK will be used as a test-case for hardline negotiations. Shana Lebowitz, provided by Published 8:15 am, Sunday, April 8, 2018 Sebastiaan ter Burg/Flickr A budget can help you manage your finances and increase your savings. But it's not always easy to maintain. "Kakeibo: The Japanese Art of Saving Money" is a new Japanese budgeting journal created by Fumiko Chiba, though the concept dates back over a century. By eliminating digital technology and recording your goals and daily spending by hand, you'll be better positioned to make solid financial decisions. Kakeibo is the Japanese word for a budgeting journal. (You pronounce the word "kah-keh-boh.") The idea is to keep track of how much you're earning and how much you're spending; the ultimate goal is to save more. Antonio Villas-Boas, provided by Published 8:00 am, Sunday, April 8, 2018 If you're living in the United States, chances are good that you're buying your smartphone from your carrier. Indeed, 90% of Americans buy their mobile devices directly from their carrier, according to telecommunications giant Huawei. If that figure is accurate, it means that 90% of Americans aren't getting the full choice of fantastic smartphones out there. I just visited a carrier store selling phones and carrier plans, and was met with an appallingly limited selection of devices that its customers had to choose from. Some locations have better selections than others, but almost no single store carries every single phone available. But there's a lot more choice out there that you should consider before paying several hundreds of dollars for a new device. You might not be buying the best phone overall — a phone you can't buy at your carrier's store might better fit your … [Read more...] about You’re probably not buying the best smartphone that you actually want
PLAYBOY is the latest member of the delete Facebook campaign. The adult magazine's chief creative officer, and Hugh Hefner's son, Cooper Hefner announced that it's dumping the social network in a tweet. "Facebook's content guidelines and corporate policies continue contradicting our values. We've tried to craft our voice for the platform, which in our opinion continues to be sexually repressive," said Hefner. "Learning of the recent meddling in a free U.S. election further demonstrates another concern we have of how they handle users' data — more than 25 million of which are Playboy fans — making it clear to us that we must leave the platform." Playboy's main Facebook page has now disappeared, but its international pages seem to be active. The publisher is the latest big name to nod to the delete Facebook movement, which began in the wake of Facebook's latest privacy scandal. Last week, billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk deleted the SpaceX and Tesla Facebook pages after … [Read more...] about Playboy quits Facebook after Hugh Hefner’s son slams the site as ‘sexually repressive’
