More and more cars across all price ranges in India are offering support for Android Auto in India. While car manufacturers are still keeping Android Auto as an USP for expensive variants, very few car buyers seem to understand what exactly it does. When compared to regular infotainment systems without Android Auto, the platform can simply be seen as an extension of your Android smartphone . It is more of a software experience. Having said that, don't make the mistake of believing that Android Auto will make your car smart. Android Auto is Google’s way of providing things that you like to do on your Android smartphone while driving on the dashboard of your vehicle. Using Android Auto you can use Google Assistant, Google Maps to navigate, play music, make calls handsfree and more. It just ensures that you don’t need to touch your phone while driving by offering a parallel Android experience on your infotainment screen. That’s just it. How YouTube failed the 2020 election test
Today let’s talk about a comprehensive new report on election integrity, and the particularly low marks it gave to one platform in particular. I. The 283-page report, which was published today, is called “ The Long Fuse: Misinformation and the 2020 Election .” It is the final work of a coalition of some of the most respected names in platform analysis in academia and the nonprofit world: the Stanford Internet Observatory, the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public, Graphika, and the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. The report builds on work that the partnership did leading up to and after November to identify and counter false narratives about the 2020 US presidential election. Samsung tells Texas it wants to create 1,800 jobs with a $17 billion factory in Austin
Samsung has submitted paperwork to Texas officials, requesting a billion dollars in tax incentives to make Austin the future home of the company’s $17 billion chip factory , as noted by Bloomberg and reported last month by the Austin American-Statesman . In the documents , which were filed in January, the company says it plans on bringing 1,800 permanent jobs to the factory over the first 10 years, with an average starting salary around $66K. In return, Samsung is asking for a break on its property taxes : it’s looking for a 100 percent break on its payments to Travis County for 20 years, which the company estimates would save it roughly $718 million, and a 50 percent break on the taxes to the City of Austin for five years, with an estimated $87 million. It also wants the state to subsidize its property tax payments to the school district. It seems like Samsung is still trying to decide where to put the factory: in the documents, the company calls the project “highly … [Read more...] about Samsung tells Texas it wants to create 1,800 jobs with a $17 billion factory in Austin
Virtual reality has found a new role: Teaching doctors to deal with patients
For medical students and junior doctors, training can be hit and miss. Sometimes you sit down with an actor who plays the part of a patient and rehearse giving a difficult diagnosis, sometimes there's a dummy that you examine, with a colleague shouting out imaginary symptoms along the lines of "His blood pressure's gone through the floor!" or "She looks sweaty and confused now!" In most cases, your imagination has to do the legwork, converting the unmoving peach-coloured rubber torso into a patient urgently in need of assistance or the actor into someone who's about to get bad news. If you're lucky, you get to practice this way a few times a year. If you're in a pandemic, you might not even get that. With training oftentimes taking place in hospitals, students and trainers now can't go to these facilities in order to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID. So now a number of universities and medical institutions are turning to virtual reality to bridge the training gap. … [Read more...] about Virtual reality has found a new role: Teaching doctors to deal with patients
