When you exercise your right to vote on November 3, you will have done something that no American has done for more than 50 years: voted during a deadly pandemic. The “Hong Kong flu” hit the United States in September 1968, and while it ultimately killed more than 100,000 Americans over the next two years, the impact on the 1968 election was minimal.
