Lawyers for convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have filed an exhaustive 226-page appeal in federal court in an attempt to spare him from death row. Referring to the bomber by his softer sounding nickname “Jahar,” the attorneys argue that his trial was unfair because of, among other things, “damning coverage” of the bombings that flooded the media and saturated Facebook and Twitter feeds. So we’re to blame?More outrageous, the filing points to the so-called prejudice of many bombing survivors who wanted Tsarnaev to die for his crimes. So the victims are to blame too? I watched the bomber’s trial unfold from my seat inside the federal courthouse. I studied his mannerisms over several weeks as no doubt the jurors did as well.
