At least one person sustained major injuries Wednesday night in a crash on state Route 78 in Vista, authorities said. It happened around 9 p.m. in the westbound lanes of SR-78 near Vista Village Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. A sedan apparently spun out and struck the highway’s concrete center divider, spewing debris across the westbound lanes as the car ended up facing the wrong way near the westbound slow lanes, according to the CHP and footage from OnScene TV. It wasn’t immediately clear if any other vehicles were involved. At least one person was taken to a hospital with what the Highway Patrol categorized as major injuries, according to the CHP log. Two lanes of the highway were closed for several hours Wednesday night, according to the CHP and Caltrans San Diego. All lanes were cleared and reopened by about 11 p.m.
