Heung-min Son hailed the performance of defender Jan Vertonghen after the Belgian was influential in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. The Belgian was forced into an unfamiliar left wing-back position after Danny Rose was deemed not fit enough to start. Despite going up against the pace of Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi, the 30-year-old put in an incredible performance, creating the opener for Son before scoring the second with a well-timed finish. The Korean was also impressive in Spurs’s first-ever knockout victory at home and he credited Vertonghen’s technical ability as the reason behind his strike – his ninth in 11 games against Dortmund. “Jan Vertonghen is technically unbelievable and can play in any position,” Son told BT Sport. “I am very happy for him, he deserved it.
