Photo by Bruce Garner/Chattanooga Fire Department Firefighters found no one inside a one-story home that caught fire Monday about 2 p.m. on Noa Street near the intersection of Wilder and Campbell streets. A Chattanooga police officer made to the scene first, reporting thick black smoke coming from the small home, Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said in a news release. Battalion Chief Chris Warren called for a second alarm because firefighters were unsure whether anyone was inside, Garner said. No one was, and the fire was snuffed out in about 10 minutes. Garner said Wilder Street had to be shut down briefly for emergency vehicles. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
